AMERICAN HERITAGE RIVER COMMISSION
MINUTES OF AUGUST 17, 2006 MEETING

Call To Order: 7:05 PM – Due to Lack of a Quorum, no official meeting was held; however, discussion was held with attending members re events of the past month.
Minutes of May 18, 2006 meeting: Reviewed.
Unfinished Business
a. Omelia Road property: It was acknowledged that the transfer had been finalized. It was noted that the only piece along the River that is missing is the Norton property.
b. Mansions on Scantic: Unknown status at this time.
c. Mission Statement & Master Plan update: Not discussed.
d. EW River Guide: Work continues.
f. Canoe Trips on Scantic: Hope to take at least one trip this coming week.
g. Flood (River Review): Canoe trip may identify areas of snags still present or any new ones visible.
h. Trail Markers: None placed at this time, but trail is being used.
i. New Members: Margaret Steinbugler from SRWA is considering becoming a member.
Old Business
a. Fields Pond Foundation: Member Kristen has received a grant for her project.
b. Property on Rye Street - Town waiting for a grant to help complete purchase.
c. Check for CT River Association: $50 from our budget sent.
New Business
a. Source to Sea Clean-Up: Scheduled for September 30. Discussion about making it
exciting in order to get more involvement as in the early history of Commission.
b. Town newspaper requests article as to Commission’s object.
